What the Birth Chart Calculator Calculates

Planet Positions in a Natal Chart

Enter a recorded birth date and time, the historical local timezone and a birthplace. The wheel shows ten celestial bodies in the tropical zodiac, an ascendant and whole-sign houses. Select a body to inspect its position; the wheel is a way to explore the calculated sky, not a fixed personality verdict.

Whole-Sign Houses and the Rising Sign

Whole-sign houses assign the entire rising sign to the first house and subsequent signs to the following houses. A chart made with another house system can therefore place the same planet in a different house without changing its zodiac longitude.

Birth Time and Timezone in a Natal Chart

Use the time recorded at the birthplace, not the current time in your browser. City presets use city-center coordinates; custom coordinates and an IANA timezone let you be more specific. Unknown birth times are not silently replaced with noon.

A clock time skipped during a daylight-saving transition is rejected. When a clock time occurred twice, choose the first or second occurrence. If the source record is uncertain, keep that uncertainty in mind when interpreting the ascendant and houses.

Birth Chart Example: Planet Positions

Suppose a chart has a Gemini ascendant. With whole-sign houses, all of Gemini is house one, Cancer house two and Leo house three. A body at 15° Leo is therefore in the third house. This illustrates the house rule; it is not a calculated chart for an invented birth record.

How to Read Birth Chart Aspects

A separation of 93° is 3° from a square. This birth-chart tool includes the five major angles—0°, 60°, 90°, 120° and 180°—within a 6° window. The angle is a calculation; the symbolic meaning you attach to it is a separate interpretation.
