Moon phase and ritual notes
Phase and illumination use Astronomy Engine at 12:00 UTC on the selected date. Quarter events show their calculated times to the minute. The disc uses a northern-view orientation, not your local live sky. Rituals are personal reflections; lunar phases do not determine outcomes. Notes stay in this page session.
Moon Phases and Upcoming Quarter Events
The observatory shows a phase label, illuminated fraction and the next four quarter events for the selected date. Change the date to explore the cycle. Illumination and phase describe the geometry of the Moon and Sun; they are not a measure of how you should feel.
The drawing is a phase visualization, not a location-specific view through a telescope. The apparent orientation in your sky can differ with where and when you observe it.
How to Start a Moon Reflection Ritual
Use the ritual to name an intention, something to release and one practical action. The phase can provide a rhythm for returning to the exercise without deciding the meaning for you. An intention is more useful when it concerns something you can actually do.
New Moon Intention Example
Intention: make space for drawing. Release: the expectation that every sketch must be worth sharing. Action: draw for ten minutes on Wednesday. At the next check-in, record whether the action happened and what helped, rather than judging the ritual by whether a wish came true.
Planning a Sustainable Moon Ritual
You can reflect at a quarter event or simply on a day that suits you. A missed date does not invalidate the practice. Keep the observation about the Moon separate from the personal meaning you choose to attach to it.
